Acupuncture + Chinese MedicineAcupuncture During Pregnancy

Support for Every Trimester

Pregnancy asks a lot of your body, and what you need support with in week 8 often looks nothing like what you need in week 38. Our team works with you across every trimester, adjusting care as your body and your pregnancy change.

Located in both Stamford and Westport, our team offers acupuncture during pregnancy alongside prenatal massage, nutrition, and pelvic floor PT, so your care can be coordinated in one place if you need more than acupuncture alone.

Her fertility work draws on acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, electroacupuncture, cupping, and moxibustion, built around each patient's individual treatment timeline. FAQ

Is acupuncture safe during pregnancy? Yes, when performed by a licensed acupuncturist trained in prenatal care. Certain points are avoided or used differently at different stages of pregnancy, which is part of why prenatal-specific training matters.

When should I start acupuncture for pregnancy support? Any trimester. Some patients start in the first trimester for nausea and anxiety support, others come to us later for pain or labor preparation.

Can acupuncture help turn a breech baby? Moxibustion, often combined with acupuncture, is a commonly used approach for breech presentation and has more research behind it than many other prenatal applications.

Can acupuncture help induce labor? Acupuncture is commonly used to support your body's own readiness for labor, often alongside other approaches your OB or midwife recommends. We recommend starting labor prep acupuncture as soon as 37 weeks, but have also found just one or two sessions to be helpful.

Is this covered by insurance? Indigo Wellness Group is an out-of-network provider. We provide detailed superbills after each appointment that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement, and many patients receive 50–80% back from their out-of-network benefits. We also encourage patients to use flexible spending and health savings accounts toward the cost of care.
