HRT, Menopause, and GLP-1 Care Now at Indigo: Meet Nicole Sandilands, DNP
Starting October 1, 2026, Indigo Wellness Group welcomes Nicole Sandilands, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC. Nicole is a board-certified family nurse practitioner, a Certified Menopause Practitioner through The Menopause Society, and an AASECT Certified Sexuality Counselor. She offers hormone replacement therapy, perimenopause and menopause care, and medical weight and metabolic care, including GLP-1 medications. Nicole sees patients at our Westport office at 212 Post Road West and is licensed in Connecticut, New York, and Arizona.
If you've asked us about HRT or GLP-1s in the last year, and so many of you have, this is the news we've been waiting to share.
Why we waited for the right person
These have been our most requested services for a long time, and we could have added them sooner. We didn't want to. Plenty of places will write a prescription after a fifteen-minute video call. We wanted someone who would treat hormones and metabolism the way we treat everything at Indigo: as part of a whole person with a whole life, not a lab value to correct.
Meet Nicole Sandilands
Nicole earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice from Fairfield University and has more than a decade of experience caring for women across every stage of health. Much of that time was in oncology, where she built a comprehensive survivorship and women's sexual health program. She has spent years helping women through some of the most complicated hormonal situations there are, and through the conversations most providers rush past.
Her certifications reflect that depth. Menopause Society certification means specialized training in the menopause transition, well beyond general primary care. AASECT certification in sexuality counseling is rare among prescribers, and it matters, because libido, vaginal dryness, and painful sex are some of the most common and least discussed parts of perimenopause.
In Nicole's words:
"My goal is to help women understand what's happening in their bodies and provide clear, evidence-based information about their treatment options. Hormone therapy can be an excellent option for many women, but it's not the right choice for everyone. We'll talk through the benefits, the risks, and the non-hormonal alternatives so you have the information you need to decide what's right for you."
What does Nicole help with?
Perimenopause and menopause. Hot flashes, night sweats, broken sleep, brain fog, mood shifts, fatigue, low libido, vaginal dryness, painful sex, and urinary changes. These are common, but they're not something you're supposed to just live with. Nicole helps you understand what's happening and walks through every option, hormonal and non-hormonal, so you can choose what fits. Whether you're wondering if it's perimenopause, considering HRT for the first time, or hoping to fine-tune a regimen you're already on, she's a place to get straight answers. Metabolic and weight care, including GLP-1s. If weight has felt harder to manage even though you're doing all the things, it isn't a lack of effort. Hormonal shifts, insulin resistance, and metabolic changes are often what's really going on. Nicole starts by finding what's driving the change, then helps you decide whether a GLP-1 medication is the right fit, or whether another evidence-based approach would serve you better. "Weight loss medications can be an incredibly effective tool for weight management, but they're only one part of a successful treatment plan. My goal is to help you lose weight safely while preserving muscle, supporting your overall health, and minimizing side effects. Just as importantly, I want to help you build sustainable habits that support your long-term health and success."
What makes care at Indigo different?
The team around Nicole. Hormone therapy and GLP-1 medications work best when the rest of your life is supported too, so Nicole collaborates with Indigo's dietitians, acupuncturists, pelvic floor physical therapists, therapists, and bodyworkers when it would help.
In practice, that might mean working with one of our registered dietitians on protein and strength while you're on a GLP-1, so you protect muscle and bone. It might mean pelvic floor PT alongside vaginal estrogen, or acupuncture for sleep while your HRT dose is being adjusted. Your plan is built around you, by people who talk to each other.
For women who have been through cancer treatment, Nicole's survivorship background fits naturally with Indigo's integrative oncology care.
What is a first visit like?
Your first visit is a 60-minute appointment at our Westport office. Nicole will review your health history, intake questionnaire, symptoms, lifestyle, what you've already tried, and any labs you've had done. She'll recommend further testing if it would help, talk through benefits, risks, and options, and you'll leave with clear next steps.
Follow-up visits are 30 minutes and focus on adjusting your plan as your body responds and reviewing new labs. For GLP-1 patients, that includes managing dosing and side effects, optimizing protein intake, and supporting strength and bone health throughout treatment.
